Many nurses and students with disabilities are living life challenged by chronic pain or fatigue. The following resources provide helpful information and support.

  • CFIDS.org The Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Association is the nation's leading organization dedicated to conquering chronic fatigue through advocacy, education, research and public policy.

  • Immunesupport.com is the world's largest fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue site in the world. Go to the library section and type in "Eunice" to read the columns from Eunice Beck, RN.

  • intractablepain.com All of the nurses and other professionals involved with this web site live with chronic pain or illness. Visit this excellent, comprehensive site and find other nurses living with chronic pain.

  • ncf-net.org This web site provides a preliminary report on the incidence of chronic fatigue related symptoms among nurses.

  • Nurseweek.com This study reports that 1,088 out of 100,000 nurses suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

  • Social Security Disability Secrets - An informational site devoted to people who are trying to win disability benefits in the US. This particular page specifically deals with applying for disability if you have fibromyalgia. It offers some advice and some useful tips.

Workplace Violence

Nurses have been hurt, disabled, injured and murdered at work. Fear of retaliation and lack of nationwide whistleblower legislation stops some nurses from reporting unsafe conditions. The following resources address the safety issues of nurses in the workplace. Nurses need to work together to stop workplace violence against nurses.
